Headline News for November, 2010

November 30, 2010   One of Our Own probably the last Intrepid/Hidden Frontier crossover film has been made available for viewing on You Tube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSoHMTEoBLE (7:44) and Vimeo http://vimeo.com/17304866 (7:43)  I broke my own rules and watched this on the Vimeo, it's perfect in writing, acting, and technically, and will get a 5 rating... A Quick Pick Treasure.
OK, as of December 2, 2010, it is also available for download: http://www.starshipintrepid.net/dl_o4.htm

November 21, 2010   Keeping Up With the Cardassians  is a Fan Film Series about Trek Fans.  Live action, it's about a family (or a group of families) of Trek fans, set in  present day Astoria, Queens, New York (along with All In the Family?).  I have classified it under "Misc/Trekkers, Trekkies,  and General Fandom." since it's a Fan Film about Fans, not about Trek.  They have released seven "Episodes" Although they are short and feel more like seven segments of a larger episode.  They make the most of New York blase, with the father, a bicycle messenger who wears his Star Trek TNG uniform on the job, regularly running into people who make him look normal by comparison.

(This is not a mistake.  There were no Headlines in October, 2010).

Headline News for August, 2010

August 9, 2010   Phase II Needs You!  Like everyone else, Phase II is suffering in this economy, and will have to close it's doors and stop producing TOS films unless it gets financial support. This page:  http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/Donate.html tells you how to donate as does this link: http://forums.startreknewvoyages.com/index.php?topic=4808.msg68286#msg68286 .  The link offers more ways to donate, although the page tells you more of the story.

August 1, 2010  Star Trek Unity (UK) has released it's final episode, Star Trek Unity: Twilight.   http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/90.html  Star Trek Unity: Twilight is an episode in seven parts.  A Pre-teen and teen production, Star Trek Unity (UK) has released over two dozen episodes over a period of years.

Star Trek Excaliber (Las Vegas, Nev. planned project) finished high enough in the Pepsi refresh competition in July to get an automatic renewal.  It is trying again in August.  You can vote daily for this project to help get it off the ground.  Just click here, then create an account to  vote daily.  I have not received any spam from Pepsi after doing this for two months:

Headline News for July, 2010

July 15, 2010    Stone Trek's "The Deadly Ears"   has been selected as Star Trek Review's first Comedy Quick Pick Treasure.  It is also the first Quick Pick Treasure which is an animation!   No criteria has yet been set out for reviews of Comedies and Parodies, but there can be no doubt that, no matter what the criteria selected, this gem deserves the attention of anyone who loves Star Trek, any one who considers watching fan films... in fact, I think it deserves the attention of pretty much the whole world!

The larger Parody and Comedy groups and productions have been given their own webpages and can be located both through the standard Table of Contents and through the Parody and Comedy webpage.  They will be added to the Quick Links on the right hand side of the website as they are reviewed and approved by the filmmakers, or after August 1, whichever first happens.  I have attempted to contact every filmmaker, either by e-mail or through their websites or You Tube homes.  Some of the items listed under Parodies and Comedies have proven to be audio shows, and those have been moved to the Audio listings section.

July 4, 2010.  Star Track At Blog 96, Star Track  has been given it's own webpage.  What could be more appropriate for the 4th of July than to honor a distinctly Canadian parody/comedy series with it's own Blog?  OK, that doesn't make sense, but hey,  neither does this extensive series with over 20 episodes in the initial series, an animated series being released this summer, and another group producing another comedy/parody series set in the same universe, Star Track: The Metric System.  Star Track: The Academy Years, the new animated Star Track, has released the first part of it's first episode.

This has inspired me to begin the long-delayed process of moving major Parodies and Comedies to their own webpages.   Heaven knows Star Track has always deserved its own webpage, but with the addition of a new parallel series by a separate group and an animated series, things were getting embarrassing!

July 1, 2010 Star Trek Excaliber (Las Vegas, Nev. planned project) finished high enough in the Pepsi refresh competition in June to get an automatic renewal.  It is trying again in July.  You can vote daily for this project to help get it off the ground.  Just click here, then create an account to  vote daily.  I have not received any spam from Pepsi after doing this for a month:

Headline News for June, 2010

June 26, 2010. Star Trek Reviewed celebrates it's first anniversary with a new mission essay.   After a week at the top of the website, it has been moved to it's permanent home: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/240.html .

June 18, 2010 Star Trek Valkyrie, an Audio Drama  has released AN ENTIRE SERIES of 12 episodes AT ONCE. This is so unique, that I am breaking my own rules and giving an Audio release a Headline.  Star Trek Reviewed does not usually cover Audio Drama, and this policy is not being changed.   You can click through to each episode for download or listening in  Blog 247, Audio Drama, or you can get it at their website, High Resolution Videos .  The Audio Drama Blog also has links to more than a two dozen other audio series, most of which have many episodes.  Unlike video, you can listen to Audio Trek while commuting.

June 13, 2010   Duet  a live action Green Screen Drama based on the Deep Space 9 episode, "Duet" but set in post World War II Germany.  This film was released several months ago, but was just found and added to Star Trek Reviewed.

May 27, 2010  Marvel Sorcery, a Go!Animate participant filmmaker,  has been give his own webpage, Blog (64) Marvel Sorcery's Star Trek: TNG and other Animations .  He has expressed his own feeling that his TNG films are his best.

May 20, 2010  dmac6806, has been given his own webpage, Blog (63) DMAC6806's Kobayashi Maru and other Animations  has completed two Animated films, "Star Trek: Kobayashi Maru" based on the novel by that name by Julia Ecklar and "Star Trek: In Thy Image."  Because he has imbedded links to these films, each in a video which has to be watched repeatedly to watch the film, it is easier to watch it from my Go!Animate page Blog (63) DMAC6806's Kobayashi Maru and other Animations.

May 14, 2010    Dark Frontier  has released it's fifth segment of it's five part series, "Reclamation." This is also it's final Star Trek offering. They will move on to independent projects. Dark Frontier can be found in Star Trek Restricted

Also, on May 14, 2010 Star Trek Reviewed published Fan Film Friday due to technical difficulties at Sci Fi Pulse.  However, Sci Fi Pulse is back up and online, so you can now read it's review of the new, animated Starship Farragut episode, The Needs of the Many ( Blog 22, Starship Farragut ), At Sci Fi Pulse, by clicking here:      Fan Film Friday: Starship Farragut Animated:’The Needs Of The Many’

May 12, 2010  Starship Farragut Animated has released it's second animated Episode, The Needs of the Many.  It is currenlty available in streaming video. The links to downloads were working as of 10 AM  Download Links for The Needs of the Many

Urgma has prepared Portuguese subtitles for Starship Farragut's Needs of the Many, and posted them for download here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q2T89IB2

May 6, 2010. Star Trek Reviewed has missed the release of two episodes of Dark Frontier "The Infection" and "Appropriate Action." Dark Frontier is listed on Star Trek Restricted due to content, but because this listing is remedial, I am including a link here with a warning that this may contain content which would not ordinarily appear on Network Prime Time Television:  http://www.triple-fictionproductions.net/index.php?p=1_32

In my own defense, I do now see that these episodes appear to have been released when I did not have access to the internet on a regular basis, and was checking my e-mail and updating this website based, as Blanche would have said in Streetcar Named Desire, "on the kindness of strangers."... OK, also my sister and local public library, and a filmmaker (non-Trek) I know...

May 2, 2010.   Star Trek: Phoenix has released their pilot episode, Cloak and Dagger, Part 1. (30 minutes) Star Trek Phoenix thus becomes the second group to be moved out of "Star Trek Fan Filmmakers with No Fan Films" into it's own Webpage/Blog 95, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/95.html .  Set 42 years after Nemesis, it is late Silver Age.  As of the morning of May 3, there are still some issues with downloading this material, although it can be watched in streaming video.  No change is expected before May 4.

May 1, 2010
Final sound for Phase II's Blood and Fire Part II is now available for download from their mirror websites. However, they continue to report distortions in zipped files and other problems with downloads.
