Also very personal, Go!Animate's MattyG Productions has produced Star Trek: Recovery or Star Trek: USS Recovery (both are used) Original Time Line, set after the destruction of Romulas, but uses the animation characters created for TOS. I found the first two slow, but after that the story picked up. The show also brings in the subject of dealing with addiction, which is a very appropriate use of Star Trek.

November 6, 2011. Spooftackular No. 3. Star Trek: Trailer Trek. Live Action Parody of The Doomsday Machine. It identifies itself as being in the 23rd century, which would make it Stone Age or Golden Age, but the uniforms mix Silver Age and TOS movie era. Completed in 1998, it won the "Golden Reel Award" for special effects at an annual film festival at Northern Illinois University. It was shown on a local TV station in DeKalb, Ill. in 2001. This episode is so much better than the first one it's hard to believe the same people did it. It was also nice to see a crossover with George Kayaian (of The Multiverse Crisis) making a guest appearance. I love fan film crossovers! And I also see a "Thank you" to Romulan Wars. October Spooftakular begins a series of weekly Headlines highlighting Star Trek Comedies and Spoofs which were found during 2011, well after they were made and posted. These will be interrupted by new releases. Due to the release of a major German Language film, as well as recent finds of several other German Language films, I was going to have a mid-month Oktoberfest headline, which would have highlighted newly found and newly released German Language Star Trek Fan Films. However, the heavy release schedule has thrown off those plans, plus my own research has exposed the ill-timing of this plan, so I will not be having the general German Language Fan Film feature. The Spooftakular will continue at least through December, and quite possibly into 2012, depending on the number of releases which come through, as well as any discovery of as-yet unknown Star Trek fan parodies and comedies.

October 1, 2011 Spooftakular No 1.: Ian White Cult Movies Presents Star Trek Spoof The two films in this series were done by a British Star Trek Fan a few years ago, but only discovered by me this year. Each is roughly the length of a one-hour episode, without commercials. Most aspects of these lighthearted parodies are Golden Age, although a few Silver Age aspects creep into the presentations. They were sufficiently slick, yet oddball that I had to check to be sure that Ian White was an ordinary Star Trek Fan, not a British comic with his own TV show. September 17, 2011 Star Trek: Odyssey has released it's entire 3rd Season, which is also it's concluding episode and the concluding episode of Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles, both productions of Hidden Frontier. Headline News for July, 2011

July 26, 2011. Star Trek: Survivor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v60Uh3ugqv4 (10:00) I missed the release of this short, Live Action, College film class 10 minute film which tells a full story, set in the Silver Age of Star Trek. July 12, 2011. FemTrekz, a set of animation modules, has released it's first Episode, Landing Party Decorum (8:23). This series is bordering on being moved to Star Trek Restricted even though the sexual references are pretty mild. So far, though (and I haven't watched every video) that seems to dominate whatever story exists, although there does not appear to be any real plot. The name of the captain varies with the filmmaker. The characters are supposed to be female but act like males. One of them sets the five year mission at the task of populating the galaxy. For more on FemTrekz see http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/117.html . Usually, this release, being under ten minutes, would be too short for treatment as a full film with a headline. Also, the lack of plot would add to that problem, but this group has so many people working on it and releasing bits and pieces it's impossible to believe this will be all there is. However, I have also see no evidence there will ever be an actual plot.

December 20, 2010 Ordinarily, I would not give a headline to Part 1 of a story which will be released in many parts, but for those who have been waiting with baited breath for the continuation, Star Trek Armada, Season 3 has begun. The additional reason this is news, is that Section 31 has given us a big upgrade in sound and in the way her characters move, and is now posting her videos on You Tube. November 21, 2010 Keeping Up With the Cardassians is a Fan Film Series about Trek Fans. Live action, it's about a family (or a group of families) of Trek fans, set in present day Astoria, Queens, New York (along with All In the Family?). I have classified it under "Misc/Trekkers, Trekkies, and General Fandom." since it's a Fan Film about Fans, not about Trek. They have released seven "Episodes" Although they are short and feel more like seven segments of a larger episode. They make the most of New York blase, with the father, a bicycle messenger who wears his Star Trek TNG uniform on the job, regularly running into people who make him look normal by comparison.

(This is not a mistake. There were no Headlines in October, 2010).

August 9, 2010 Phase II Needs You! Like everyone else, Phase II is suffering in this economy, and will have to close it's doors and stop producing TOS films unless it gets financial support. August 1, 2010 Star Trek Unity (UK) has released it's final episode, Star Trek Unity: Twilight. http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/90.html Star Trek Unity: Twilight is an episode in seven parts. A Pre-teen and teen production, Star Trek Unity (UK) has released over two dozen episodes over a period of years.

Star Trek Excaliber (Las Vegas, Nev. planned project) finished high enough in the Pepsi refresh competition in July to get an automatic renewal. It is trying again in August. You can vote daily for this project to help get it off the ground. Just click here, then create an account to vote daily. I have not received any spam from Pepsi after doing this for two months:

Headline News for July, 2010

July 15, 2010 Stone Trek's "The Deadly Ears" has been selected as Star Trek Review's first Comedy Quick Pick Treasure. It is also the first Quick Pick Treasure which is an animation! No criteria has yet been set out for reviews of Comedies and Parodies, but there can be no doubt that, no matter what the criteria selected, this gem deserves the attention of anyone who loves Star Trek, any one who considers watching fan films... in fact, I think it deserves the attention of pretty much the whole world!

The larger Parody and Comedy groups and productions have been given their own webpages and can be located both through the standard Table of Contents and through the Parody and Comedy webpage. They will be added to the Quick Links on the right hand side of the website as they are reviewed and approved by the filmmakers, or after August 1, whichever first happens. I have attempted to contact every filmmaker, either by e-mail or through their websites or You Tube homes. Some of the items listed under Parodies and Comedies have proven to be audio shows, and those have been moved to the Audio listings section.

July 4, 2010. Star Track At Blog 96, Star Track has been given it's own webpage. What could be more appropriate for the 4th of July than to honor a distinctly Canadian parody/comedy series with it's own Blog? OK, that doesn't make sense, but hey, neither does this extensive series with over 20 episodes in the initial series, an animated series being released this summer, and another group producing another comedy/parody series set in the same universe, Star Track: The Metric System. Star Track: The Academy Years, the new animated Star Track, has released the first part of it's first episode.

This has inspired me to begin the long-delayed process of moving major Parodies and Comedies to their own webpages. Heaven knows Star Track has always deserved its own webpage, but with the addition of a new parallel series by a separate group and an animated series, things were getting embarrassing!

June 18, 2010 Star Trek Valkyrie, an Audio Drama has released AN ENTIRE SERIES of 12 episodes AT ONCE. This is so unique, that I am breaking my own rules and giving an Audio release a Headline. Star Trek Reviewed does not usually cover Audio Drama, and this policy is not being changed. You can click through to each episode for download or listening in Blog 247, Audio Drama, or you can get it at their website, High Resolution Videos . The Audio Drama Blog also has links to more than a two dozen other audio series, most of which have many episodes. Unlike video, you can listen to Audio Trek while commuting.

June 13, 2010 Duet a live action Green Screen Drama based on the Deep Space 9 episode, "Duet" but set in post World War II Germany. This film was released several months ago, but was just found and added to Star Trek Reviewed.
